Total n00b questions
Hi all
I bought GuildWars the other day, and have only just got round to installing it. I've ready the entire of "Book II: The Challenge" included, and have a level 4 Warrior/Elementalist. I'm still in the first place, I've done quite a few quests but I havent told Sir Tidus I'm ready to leave Ascalon yet. I would be extremely grateful of any general recommendations and if anyone could answer some of my questions Im currently using a Longsword, that I got from doing one of the Pitney (i think) quests. I was looking in the Crafter NPC in Ascalon, trying to see what Items I needed to get some better armour (Im still wearing the same clothes that I entered the game with) but there's no armour items in the list. However there is a "Rinblade" which is better than my current sword, but I need 5 Iron Ingots to craft it. What are these and where do I get them? Is it possible to get new armour/skills from NPCs on before I've left Ascalon by speaking to Sir Tidus (as he does say I can't come back for some time). I do have the resurrection signet and the following spells: -Frenzy -Healing Signet -Resurrection Signet -Sever Artery -Gash -Firestorm -Aura of Restoration -Glyth of Lessen Energy -Blinding Flash -Lightning Javelin I also spoke to Warmaster Grast about learning new warrior skills, he said to speak to Duke Baradin, which I did but haven't done his missions yet. Do I need to comeplete the Duke's missions to get more spells before I leave, and what about more Elementarist spells, I can't seem to get anymore, I can't see a spell trainer NPC anywhere either. I just don't want to leave Ascalon before I've got everything I need from there, would really like to get some new clothes but don't know where the armour crafter is and what/where drops the needed crafting items. Any help would be fantastic, thanks |

There isnt anything you cant get later.
You can buy a salvage kit, and salvage weapons, armor, etc, you get from monsters. Some stuff will give you the iron you need, as well as wood, bones, etc. there are a few collectors, scattered throught the land, they can get you better armor (no head armor in pre-searing) The armor and weapons you can get, arent that great, and you will get better stuff once you move on, so dont worry if you cant/dont want to find them all. Im not sure on the skills,(if you have them all) but you are probably close to getting them all. Any skills you miss in pre-searing, you can get later, for some money and a skill point(earned by experience) so you wont be "missing" any skills, but it is cheaper to get them from the quests. hope that helps some (: |

However, there are Collectors scatered around the world that will trade X of a random item in exchange for various armor (the only pieces available are Gloves, Boots, Chest armor, and Leg armor. No Helm upgrades until after you talk to Sir Tydus).
What I'd do if I was in your shoes is go and complete every quest I could find, just to make sure I got every Skill and Spell I could before Sir Tydus and the academy. But, no worries if you miss anything (even skills), as everything can be found in Ascalon after you come back from the academy. (hee, how you like that? No spoilers!) |

Thanks all for your replies
I'm level 6 now. I think I'll just go and check I've done all the quests I can find and not bother with crafting new armour before I leave ascalon. That should be ok? |

Thanks for the link Ole Man Bourbon, I've now got the belt pouch
The only thing I would like to do now before I leave is to get this better sword. To do that I require 5 Iron Ingots. Where can I obtain these? TIA. |

Hi,
Found an unidentified (purple) item on one of the quests. Just bought an ID Kit and identified it, is it worthless? (See attached screenshot) TIA. |

That's not too bad for Pre Searing, But it would only work for a Me/N or a N/Me, so it wouldn't be worth too much, IMO.
And, as far as pre/post Searing is concerned *MICROSCOPIC SPOILER ALERT* After you talk to Sir Tydus and go to the academy, the world goes "Boom, Burn, Sizzle". Then, everything gets harder. And uglier. And mobs of people shout out "WTS THINGS YOU CAN'T AFFORD LOLOLOL". This is why I don't go to Ascalon City anymore. But, there are armor crafters post-Searing, and even the low-end stuff is better than the Collector armor from pre-Searing. Pre-Searing: Tutorial Post-Searing: The actual game |
